Flight is Impossible With Limited Spacial Capacity
This sculpture is a reaction to the frustrating feeling of compulsive need to create art with no room to accommodate it. The act of making this piece seemed self defeating at times, since it is contributing to the problem while addressing it.
The camera lens represents the eye of the artist, the mechanical components the inner workings of the conceptual process. The aircraft vessel carrying this cargo is grounded, embedded is heavy cement. The creative current continues to flow, in spite of being stranded on a constrained landmass with nowhere to go but up. This conflict of artistic impulse clashing with restricted physical reality is further embodied by the wires tethering the metaphorical propellers to the island of solitude inhabited by the artist.
