Separation Anxiety
The wooden dowel represents the individual, inhabiting the center of their universe. The rubber bands stretched are the links and bonds (both social and otherwise) formed with the world around us. The tapered wedges of wood are the paths open to us that widen increasingly as each life choices create an entirely different array of new directions. The existential fear that accompanies this limitless free will is countered and anchored by the aforementioned connections, tenuous yet flexible.
