Amphora Surfacing

Amphora Surfacing

My Dad spent some time in the 60s teaching scuba diving off the coast of Italy, and during this time he helped excavate Greek pottery as well. This ink drawing is referencing an old photo of a diver blowing air bubbles into a hollow vessel to float it up. I used a wash; creating an underwater blurred effect not found in the original source material.
